Born in Portland, Maine in 1940, Clifford L. Somers was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1967. Mr. Somers graduated from the University of Florida where he was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta. He spent 4 years in the Army JAG Corps during which he became a military judge. He is a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, American Bar Associations; The Florida Bar, past member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (Vice President, Tampa Chapter, 1989-1990); Florida Defense Lawyers Association; Founding Member and Past President of the Ferguson-White Inn of Court; Past Chairman, Civil Procedure Rules Committee of the Florida Bar; Defense Research Institute (Area Chairman, 1986 - 1995), Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer, Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education. Mr. Somers is certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and is a certified Florida Circuit Civil and Federal District Court Mediator. He has also authored many articles. Mr. Somers concentrates his practice in the defense of suits against health care providers.
